Poetic Madness: The Exclusive Life of an Unfinished Poem

By 2 Comments1 min read
A scene depicting a poet sitting at a rustic desk deeply immersed in editing their work. inspired by Van Gogh's vibrant color style.

poetic madness

when you publish a poem
it belongs to the reader,
and its author, they say.

can’t revisit the moment’s
composition, the decision
when you said it’s done.

but I’m rereading, editing
and retelling this story
over and over again.

might tighten it taking
out a word or a few,
even a whole sentence.

apologies, i’m writing
inside my history, freed
from the stream of time –

my soul now on earth,
and as we must live,
conceptions never die.
