“I do not make a bakosha that You take them out of the Olam Hazeh,
but that You keep them from HaRah.” Orthodox Jewish Bible: John 17:15
Breaking news
Does not stay news for long.
The last time I heard of Palestine,
Hell was boiling over in Gaza.
Oh, King of the North!
HaShem will not remove the
Heart of stone from your flesh.
This land is full of bones.
One autochthonous orphan child,
“Bird, Dad, Mom,”
Were the only words he uttered.
His whole extended family
Slaughtered,
The last thing he remembered –
Before the missile struck,
Masonry and metal whipping up,
Weaponizing and penetrating skin,
Fracturing bones, shooting into legs,
Abdomens, arms, chests, faces,
Open gaping wounds on the living –
“Bird, Dad, Mom,”
His doting father brought him
A Sunbird to lighten traumatic days.
They were feeding it bits of pomelo.
With no treatment now to soothe
These hideous burns, I question
Who caused me to witness this?
Relentless, on my social reel,
A young girl in Beit Lahia,
Her face white as a ghost
Soaked in phosphorous dust,
Screaming
Atop a shelled out building.
In Jabaliya refugee camp,
A young boy is picking up
Body parts of his relatives.
Another, just one year old
Wasted away in Beit Hanoun –
Starvation and dehydration –
She died before the world
Yet in plain view,
Just down the road,
There’s a pack of brown dogs
Feasting on a dead body
Lying in the sordid street.
Viewer discretion is advised.
It’s killing me watching this
Genocide.
