Poem: Future’s Strain

Screen time and social media’s grip,
Insecurities fueled by mass data flow,
A scary plight scatters brains in view.

Nation grapples with mental health toll,
Isolated tension trails pandemic’s flip,
Doom haunts the young as I grow old.

Disrupted schools left hearts in the cold,
Social lives shattered, normality slips,
A scary plight scatters brains in view.

So much to ponder in a world uncouth,
Strange climate is but one intrinsic strain,
Screen time and social media’s grip.

Anxiety, depression and body dysmorphia,
Parents grieve for children trapped in pain,
Doom haunts the young as I grow old.

Panic and phobias, post-traumatic disorder,
Government lags behind demand insane,
A scary plight scatters brains in view.

Hopelessness. Who is there to console?
Suicide attempts and hearts breaking in vain,
Nations grapple with a mental health toll.

Gun, knife violence snatches out of blue,
Fear engulfs a portion, safety slain,
A scary plight scatters brains in view.
Government lags behind demand insane.
