Some Men

A short poem exploring a son’s unconventional love for his mother, challenging ideas of masculinity, relationships and family bonds through honest reflection.

Not got a girlfriend yet,
No children either bro?
Still puff 40 cigs a day
Grafting,
Still living at home?

I don’t need a woman –
My mother is the best
She’s the loyalist person
I will ever meet.

His baby powder face
Chuckled –
Drawing a picture
Mischievous.
