An Enemy Knocking On The Door of Your Heart

A Prisoner of Hope

A brief reflection on confronting hatred without fear, and how the courage to engage an enemy can create the possibility of understanding, or even friendship.

A sworn enemy lurks
At the front door of your mind.
He doesn’t know the door opens
From knocking on your heart.
Seething with bloody hatred,
Frothing from the mouth,
You answer, far from fear —
Searing into each other.
His danger now realised,
Conversation takes place,
He risks becoming a friend.
