Reciting Your Names

Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Alice DaSilva Aguiar –
How many agitators can recite your names?
Each time we see your faces, we burst into tears.
You danced into heaven with the angels and saints.

Who said the suspect was an asylum seeker?
Preying on fears, they named him Ali Al-Shakati.

Mob violence fueled by gross misinformation,
British-born, he didn’t come on a boat in ‘23.

Far-right hatred and anti-migrant sentiment,
A ghastly manipulation of an unspeakable event.
Instead of praying for the families in time of grief,
They hijacked the agenda like spineless thieves.

Influencers regurgitated false data for views,
From their megaphone bellowing out fake news.
From Southport to Manchester, even to Belfast:
The disaffected scream, “We want our country back.”

Oh Tommy Tommy… where are you?
Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is nowhere to be found.
And the grim aftermath down here on the ground –
Is a whole heap of people are getting banged up.

One yanked a police shield and brought it low,
Jailed for two years and eight months straight.
Another spewed threats and tossed fireworks,
Three years in prison, job gone, no debate.

A group beat a black man in the city centre,
Every bit of action was caught on camera.
Remanded to face the stern judge next week,
One cried in the dock, the outlook bleak.

Another smashed a shop window, fueled by spite—
Three years in prison, out of sight.
Another shouted racist threats, inflamed the crowd,
Three years in the slammer and the jails are loud.

This man was threatening with a stick in hand,
Two years and nine months, his head in his hands.
This one threw bricks and broke the police line —
Thirty-four months of prison time.

A teen robbed a shop, then cursed the judge —
Two years and ten months, the judge didn’t budge.
This lady posted “Burn the Mosque” for all to see —
A stiff fifteen months in jail, flew her liberty.

The wheelie bin ladies, five years between them.
The judge wasn’t interested whether they had children.
One fell at the feet of police with bin aflame,
The other charged at officers, face sneering.

Behind the facade, the tears fall fast,
The pent up rage spiralled way out of hand,
For those fleeting moments and hatred cast —
Now the prison complex is absolutely jammed.

In court, the sobs, the cries, the pleas —
Too late for words to right the wrong.
For broken laws and shattered peace,
The sting by Starmer lashed by COBRA’s tongue.

For those who perpetuated hate and fear,
The former prosecutor’s mind is set.
The world moves on, but they’re banged up,
In a rammed jail facing years of regret.

Oh Tommy Tommy… where are you?
Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is nowhere to be found.
And the grim aftermath down here on the ground,
Is that the real serious cases are yet to be heard.

Influencers regurgitated false data for views,
From their megaphone bellowing out fake news.
From Southport to Manchester, even in Belfast:
The incarcerated bawl: “We’ve been misled.”

Even Elon Musk said we’re heading for civil war –
Clearly he doesn’t care about what’s going in Sudan.
Instead of praying for the families in time of grief,
They hijacked the agenda like spineless thieves.

Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, and Alice DaSilva Aguiar –
We will forever recite your beautiful names.
Each time we see your faces, we burst into tears.
You danced into heaven with the angels and saints.
