Under Fire: Confidential Verses on the Global Arms Surge

By No Comments1 min read
A surreal painting of a screaming Earth with human features, set against swirling green and blue skies.

Under Fire

in response to rising
threat perceptions,
the whole world investing
in global defense.

from america to korea,
the middle east to europe,
tax trillions transmuted:

steel swallows humming
hypersonic sermons –
warships gnashing teeth.

from slovakia to arabia,
the UK to north africa,
wealth made manifest:

satellite constellations,
bullet hymns echoing
through schoolyard fences.

the warehouses breathe,
steel forests of drones,
missiles sleep upright.

when they wake, still
slick with factory grease,
silence splits into sirens.

greased palms torque terror,
cocking the hammer
of borrowed time.

from estonia to china,
russia and india,
it’s like the whole globe

preparing for war.

Dystopian image showing a grim landscape with military bunkers, aircraft, and missiles.
