ELOHIM
A provocative poem exploring religion, preaching and human behaviour through satire, observation and reflections on faith.
“ELOHIM.”
I scrutinized this plaque
upon the wall. *Greetings!*
We smiled through the door.
Angels’ pitches rose & fell,
fervently dancing churchgoers sang.
We observe from the back,
the music stopped &
Ninja rolled up bellowing:
“THE PURPOSE
OF THIS CONGREGATION
IS NOT TO SHAKE & JIGGLE
BUT TURN AROUND!”
His deep voice advanced:
“Sisters…
when your God-fearing brother
chirps tonight, **Come perch by me –
let me hug you (my friend)
for that wonderful dinner:
see phallus rising
like the morning sun?
Say: ‘You forgot what
the preacher said earlier
son?”
