A Lost Tale of Resilience in Eastern Ghouta

tears ran out

of Eastern Ghouta i had never heard
but my ears pricked up as he recorded
one thousand dead in 18 days.

i focused on a woman draped in black
torn looking,  besieged eyes
spoke words that blew in the wind.

“upside down world, you dare not go out,
you retreat into a corner of the house
find yourself inside your own head –

then you lose yourself.”
