cat in your eyes

A short, intimate poem about recognising emotional pain in someone else’s eyes. With a simple exchange between two people, the poem moves from uncertainty and depression toward reassurance, reminding us that even the darkest emotional states can pass.

i sat
looking into your face.
you got the cat in your eyes!

what’s wrong with you?
calm down. depression
