The Beer

A tender short poem about family love, apology and the quiet understanding shared between a child and their mother.

hey mom!
i promised to turn the lights on for you as you asked.
hope you had a good day.

so sorry
about that tin of beer in the fridge i replaced last week.
it was ice cold mom.

but you know
when i get paid wednesday, i’ll replace it. i might buy
you an extra one.

you always understand.
