shoes

they say you don’t know
until you’ve walked in their shoes.
i saw a white seagull
through the window of my house,
flying high, through the lattice,
I looked out, then closed my eyes,
flailed my arms & imagined.

when i opened my eyes,
the seagull had disappeared.
