A Tsunami of Tears in Lands Once Dominated by Man

Tsunami of Tears

A short environmental poem reflecting on devastating floods, human vulnerability and the limits of technology when nature overwhelms landscapes shaped by man and machine.

In lands once dominated
By man and machine,
Technology is futile
As the river overlooks
Like a dictator with menace,
Biding its time
Then advances, overwhelms –
Vomiting a deluge of
Deposited poisons
And all kinds of debris inland,
Where broken evacuees
Scratch their heads
And wipe their tears
At nature’s course.
