Tutor’s Muse

A reflective poem about the struggles of a working poet, the weight of financial pressures and the enduring hope that words will preserve a life and legacy for future generations.

You have talent
The esteemed poet said &
This work will be published
Soon. Instead you find traces
On the Internet. & still
In my humble abode I juggle
To pay the bills.

Some debtors
Even treat me with contempt.

In the prime of my life. Head
Peppered white who cares
About my stresses?

So I write, edit & rewrite.
Then deposit thought maps
Into the digital library, &
Am consoled that one day
When I am long way gone,
My descendants will know
Where to find me.
