Swan Bake?
A satirical political poem examining misinformation, immigration rhetoric and the repeated use of sensational claims to influence public opinion.
Nigel Farage declared on LBC,
That Romanians who had crossed the sea
Were eating royal swans, and carp from ponds,
A story built on fictional bonds.
He had no proof the tales were true;
Royal Parks Charity said nothing such occurred.
A vicious fiction made up through and through,
Repeating offensive and hateful words.
Trump had said, in a place called Springfield,
That Haitian immigrants ate your cats and dogs.
Another nasty lie, a weapon wielded,
The same old ugly demagogic dialogues.
So, if he’ll lie about a carp or swan,
What isn’t just a calculated con?
