this past year

A reflection on the hardship, fear, and uncertainty of 2020, written in the hope that the year ahead might bring better days.

i totter
through 2020 just like yourself,

(as best as i can) –

as a kind of plague requites man,
now he’s penitent.
WTF is going on? What have we done?

…the leaders question their retinue.

“It’s the Economy Stupid! It’s the Economy Stupid!”

irreverently ignoring
Miss Mary Smith.
jobless. penniless.
almost homeless.

hungry

children. & her mother passed recently from you know what.

away from thee Satan!

so i peek into this grimoire & pray
that 2021 we’ll see better days –

& let us say:

Sanctus Sanctus Sanctus. Amen, Amen & Amen.

A vibrant triptych: fragmented 2020, a mother and children over a rainbow and book, and a serene house in a flower field.
