when POTUS flies out we’re still in the dog house

POTUS visits London –
is he stepping out of London?
thousands protest
but i’m up north.

50 million quid
for security ring of steel?
to be fair some commented
15 million lesser…

but no quids
said UK government
for extra teachers,
nurses
even the police are brooding.

there’s been all kind of cuts
to local services –
libraries, education,
a sure start for children –

the woeful care for pensioners,
prisoners
running jails –
firefighters escape not
the flames devouring

gangs on the road
snatching, stabbings,
& people getting shot dead,
but they don’t report it

as much as the
homelessness explosion
the cocaine, the opiates,
stressed out synthetic heads
an eroding of societal norms?

every 50 yards –

somebody’s begging –
could you spare a little change please
anything you can please
shaking coins
in the polystyrene cup.

&

people using food banks
like never before – elderly folk
say it was better in world war II.
can you believe it?

a full frontal attack
on the mentally unstable
& disabled poor,
weening them off income support
that many take their life
uneasily snatched away
as families grieve

meanwhile
at the state banquet
with Elizabeth – his belly full –
POTUS periodically fell asleep.

It falls flat on Eileen
she has to catch advice tomorrow
if it doesn’t go well
her family are out on the street
tomorrow

& he flies home
we go back to #Brexit
a divided tiny island/s –
can’t exit Europe yet

50 million quid
for security ring of steel?
to be fair some commented
15 million lesser…
