Claiming My World: Defiance In Hushed Tones

By No Comments1 min read

Hushed Tones

hushed tones

you brought me to this new world
via my ancestors,

so don’t
speak to me in hushed tones
because the pain you caused.
this is my world now!

i consume sugar from Brazil.
finest cotton flown in from India.
my gadgets made in China.

sweet mangoes from Hawaii.
rum from Russia sourced locally,
& the skunk weed home grown

i could go on and on –

hey!

people are dying to come here.

so don’t

speak to me in hushed tones
because the pain you caused.
this is my world now!
