Sibling Love & Art: A Brother’s Creative Fire

By No Comments1 min read
Image of punk teens with spiky hair; a young Black boy, grinning, darts past.

Sibling Love & Art

The Scotlands Estate,
riding the big loud old bus.
New land, nervous feet.

Punks with wallet chains.
I run past big black boots fast;
they don’t see my grin.

Mama picks Keats Road.
Pirates paint the walls and
home smells like curried goat.

Friday! Ducks in sight.
I shoot them with my fingers.
“Bang! Bang!” No one cries.

Fists up, I am small,
but my heart’s a lion’s roar.
“This is MY place too!”

A collaged magpie with iridescent feathers made of various scraps, carrying a key in its beak, against a white background.

“I don’t like to tread on my brother’s toes, but I feel inspired.”
